Join to apply for the IT Developer - EDI role at UniFirst Corporation As an IT EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Developer , you will be responsible for scoping, analyzing, designing, and executing EDI projects for internal and external customers. You will play a critical role in shaping our EDI strategy, managing projects, onboarding new customers and trading partners, and continually improving our processes. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll have the opportunity to leverage your experience, business acumen, and passion for EDI and IT technologies. In a highly agile environment, you'll take ownership of EDI projects, drive improvements, and ensure successful implementation of solutions. This position requires strong IT, business system analysis, and systems development/design experience. Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential. Responsibilities Manage and support Gentran EDI application on AS/400 system. Migrate Gentran customers to a new EDI platform. Develop new maps for the EDI platform. Lead EDI onboarding, support, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Design, develop, and support ANSI X12 EDI transactions. Consult with stakeholders to define project scope. Work with EDI customers to validate, test, and maintain transactions. Communicate problems and solutions to stakeholders. Analyze operational metrics to identify trends and issues. Perform gap analysis and recommend process improvements. Document all EDI projects and participate in meetings. Provide leadership on development projects. Contribute to IT project governance. Work independently with minimal supervision. Build and lead a high-performance team. Deliver excellent customer service. Conduct end-to-end testing of applications and technology. Perform additional duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 10+ years of experience with Gentran on AS/400. Extensive experience as an EDI Developer (Gentran AS/400). Experience with integration solutions like Gentran, Seeburger, Boomi, or SaaS EDI platforms. Knowledge of SFTP, SOAP, WSDL, REST API. Experience with ASC X12 4010 standards (850, 856, 810, 812). Skills in XML, XSLT, XPath, JSON. Understanding of EDI mapping to ERP systems. Knowledge of functional areas like Sales, Marketing, Finance. Experience designing complex enterprise process tools. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Familiarity with Agile or SCRUM methodologies. Experience managing large projects and operational requests. Ability to collaborate across organizational levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Core Competencies Positive, respectful interaction and relationship building. Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Technical understanding.
